I’ve been playing with server backends lately (AWS, Firebase, Apple CloudKit and Digital Ocean).

After some reflection and many hours of training, reading, and experimenting, I think I have decided to focus on content and stop stuffing my brain with server administration knowledge. I think back over the years at all the devops/foundation code I’ve written to handle deploys, CI, etc. Then I see how quickly it gets replaced when something new comes out. The experience I gained creating those tools was helpful, but it takes away from the time I could have dedicated to my apps, webpages, etc.

Let 2022 be the year I pivot and start building the product instead of the infrastructure.
